Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa)
 A beautiful fully developed Bur Oak |
The Bur Oak is a
deciduous tree of the White Oak group native to the tallgrass
prairie that once covered central North America. It thrives in deep
limestone soils of riverbanks and valleys, but can adapt to many
different environments. A long taproot makes this tree
drought-tolerant. Known best for its large leaves and acorns, the Bur Oak makes a great shade tree and is commonly found throughout most of the United States.
